McGivney Council #29 Charitable Works Statement of Focus

The Knights of Columbus are a worldwide Catholic men’s organization initially formed to render financial aid to members and their families. While this mission has expanded and now includes a top-rated insurance program, KofC charity has also grown well beyond that into the broader community since its inception in 1882.  The Knights are organized such that the Supreme Council Office establishes global charitable initiatives and develops official “Faith in Action” programs that individual councils execute locally.  These programs are designed to support Faith, Community, Family and Life.  McGivney Council #29 members decide collectively which programs to implement, which charitable organizations to support through financial and material donations and, individually, for which local direct-assistance providers they choose to volunteer.  Currently, the Council members are focused on supporting Catholic education, Youth programs, and assisting the needy through the Coats for Kids program.  When requests for direct assistance outside the scope of our programs are received, referrals are offered to charitable organizations best suited to distribute and prioritize each particular type of giving to the truly needy in our community.
